It all started when I bought my new phone, had to back my old one and restore it on my new phone. That was my first mistake. I’ve been using WordPress’s Google Authenticator which in sense is a two step process for logging into your account. The app on my phone would generate a timed key that I would use to log in. However, mistakenly I totally forgot about that and didn’t take note of any backup keys (I probably assumed that my trusty computer would not log me out – which it did)
So realizing I wasn’t logged into on my laptop, phone or tablet – I tried to log in manually. But
“nope” said WordPress! you need this code! A code I didn’t have anymore and was completely locked out of my account.
You would think that sending a support ticket would be a quick and painless process right? But not for WordPress, at least not for my experience. Sending one in needed all sorts of proof; API, Paypal transaction unique IDs, drafted posts, pages – the lot!.
After hours of grabbing all the needed information and submitting my support ticket, I get hit with a 403 Access Forbidden on their network. Frustrated, I kept trying and trying and eventually sent one in.
It took about five days for my one time key to be mailed to me so I can log in. But the whole process was tedious. I’m grateful for the staff that helped me so now I can get back to running Verta Delta!
